  Temeraire Court Apartment Access Statement
 

 

Introduction

Temeraire Court is a first floor* balcony apartment in a Georgian grade 2 listed former hotel.  The apartment overlooks Margate Winter Gardens /Theatre and the sea to the front, and the private car park to the rear. The apartment has many original Georgian features with high ceilings and decorative cornicing to the living room. We have used a mix of antique furniture with Art Deco and Art Nouveau pieces giving a contemporary luxury feel.* The walking effort is equivalent to 1 1/2 floors as we have a private stairway leading off the main stairs totalling 36 steps.

 

Transport links

Car Margate is easily accessible by a network of motorways, the M25, M2 and A299 being approx 1 hour form Dartford Crossing. London is 70 miles.

Trains Margate train station is less than a mile from the apartments with direct travel from London Victoria or Charring Cross taking approx 90 minutes. Tel 08457 484950

Air Kent International Airport is at Manston 5 miles away.

 

Local Transport Just outside the apartment are bus stops for The Loop and Star which travels around the Thanet area which includes Broadstairs (4 miles) and Ramsgate (5 miles). They also visit the new large shopping centre at Westwood Cross (2miles) and the beautiful Cathedral city of Canterbury (17 miles).

From April - September 'City Sightseeing' open top bus tours (Hop On Hop Off visit the local attractions. Tel 07976 170 305. We can supply details of local taxi firms and will try and find out any information that would make your stay more enjoyable.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities 
 

UK guests can be sent keys a week before their arrival date or the housekeepers Sally and Bev are happy to meet our overseas guests - If you have any concerns they are on hand to help. Or of course call me on 07919 890 093. 

 

We have 2 private off road parking spaces behind Temeraire Court. Unfortunately they are temporarily out of use. However there is parking available outside the apartment or opposite in Fort Paragon which is a no through road outside our other apartment Paragon Court. There are also 2 large car parks nearby with 24 hour parking for £3.

 

 

Main Entrance & Reception 

 

Two steps lead to the main entrance. (The keys are all labelled.)  A spiral stairway  rises to the first floor, past flat no. 12a the stairs continue up approx 4 steps and then a private stairs lead down to our flat. A light is triggered as you step down the steps leading to the apartment. There are a total of 36 stairs - a walking effort equivalent to 1 1/2 floors. 

The entrance door of the apartment opens into the hallway with the entrance phone in front and the luggage storage / coat hanging to the side. The bedrooms and bathrooms are to the left at the rear of the apartment. The central heating thermostat control is located on the wall of the hallway between the bedrooms. There are radiators in every room. The flooring is a wood laminate. From the hallway turning to the right leads into the open plan kitchen living room.

 

The Welcome book is in the living room area on the coffee table with details of the flat, including AA Route Finder directions to the nearest hospital - 1.2 miles away.

Open Plan Kitchen Living / Dining Room  


The hallway leads into the open plan kitchen / living /dining room. The flooring is a wood laminate. To the left is a 3 seater cream leather sofa bed with 2 pedestal tables and a standard lamp. There are 2 matching cream leather recliner chairs and a contrasting cream and black floor rug with a small Gplan coffee table. The remote control LCD TV / DVD is on a swivel stand with drawers containing DVDs and brochures on local places of interest. There is full Sony surround sound with 5 loudspeakers in the room. The Georgian French windows run the width of the room with the middle door opening out onto the balcony. The balcony has rails of approx 1 metre high. There are full length black out curtains. The kitchen area is to the left of the room as you enter. Immediately on your left is the fire extinguisher and fire blanket. Behind the nearest kitchen panel you will find the washing machine / tumble dryer (instructions inside the door) Adjacent is the sink with waste bin underneath. NB until the car park is repaired currently rubbish can be emptied in the skips over the road in Fort Paragon. There is a gas hob and electric oven, microwave oven, fridge and freezer. All cooking utensils and white china ware (for 6) is inside the cupboards with glass ware and mugs in the cupboards above. These include a cafetiere, place mats, coasters tea towels etc. At the end of the kitchen is a restored Gplan extendable round table which seats 4 to 6. There are 4 Gplan padded chairs with a further 2 in the main bedroom. 

 

Laundry 
 
There is a washing machine / tumble dryer in the kitchen (instructions inside the door). In the coat hanging / luggage storage area, there is an iron and ironing board, clothes drying rack, linen basket and vacuum cleaner.  

 

Shopping

There is an Aldi* general store approx 100 metres situated to the rear of the building. This is reached by turning right out of the building and taking the next right turn. Cliftonville's main shopping area in Northdown Road which starts approx 50 metres further on from the Aldi store.

Bedroom 1

 

Situated at the rear of the flat, there is a large bay window with 2 chairs and full length black out curtains overlooking the private car park. The floor is carpeted. There is a standard size 4’ 6’’ wide restored Edwardian double bed with bedside lamps to either side.The matching furniture includes a wardrobe with full length mirror, chest of drawers and swivel mirror. Opposite the 2nd sash window is en suite shower room with vinyl flooring, shower, WC and wash hand basin. There is a 3 level duvet (summer weight, Autumn and combined for winter).There is a  choice of pillows, (goose or synthetic) and Egyptian cotton towels. A hairdryer is provided in bedroom 1.


 Bedroom 2 

 

Situated off the hallway next to bedroom 1. This room contains 2 single beds - one is against the wall with a bedside table between the beds with mirror over. A second bedside table is next to the 2nd bed by the large sash window. Both bedside tables have bedside lamps. There is a matching tall boy wardrobe / chest of drawers and a small chair. There are 3 level duvets (summer weight, autumn and combined for winter). There is a choice of pillows, (goose or synthetic). There is a door to the airing cupboard housing the gas boiler and the extra bedding - various weight duvets options. There is a carbon monoxide alarm outside the airing cupboard.  All bedding is Egyptian cotton or percale with feather and non feather pillows and duvets.

 

 

Bathroom & Shower-room

 

En-suite off the main bedroom with enclosed shower cubicle, WC and wash hand basin with mirror over. The family bathroom has an oversize bath with side grips, a shower, WC and wash hand basin and mirrored bathroom cabinet. Both rooms have dual voltage shaving points and vinyl flooring.

 

Fire Alarms

 

The apartment is fitted with fire alarms* and sprinklers. Fire detection and alarms are in each individual flat but also linked centrally. The alarms are sensitive and may be set off if the extraction fan is not used when cooking. Should the alarm be activated the control box is in the ground floor main entrance hall just past the entrance to the 1st flat - behind the Palm tree.  

 

 

Additional Information 
 
A Welcome Pack is provided with tea, coffee, sugar, milk and biscuits. The welcome book has details of places of interest and contact details. 
The apartment has wireless Internet broadband (limited to 10 mg download). Please note we do not provide a phone - however mobile networks should receive a signal. There is a public Phone box over the road by the Green next to the former Lido.

Each guest is supplied with a bath and hand towel. The towels are to be always kept in the apartment.

The premises are Non Smoking and sadly we cannot allow any pets.

A hair dryer is provided.

Future Plans


We look forward to the private car park being reopened asap – unfortunately the developers / freeholders are involved in an insurance claim over damages which has delayed the repairs.
